ETDXA Minutes
for the meeting of
March 15, 2010
The regular meeting of the East Tennessee DX
Association was held on Monday night March 15, 2010. Twenty-three
members and 6 guests were in attendance.
The meeting was called to order at 6:50 p.m. by
President Willard Sitton, W4HZD.
Introductions were made to the group.
The DX reports were given by: Lynn Lamb W4NL
Lynn also gave an update about the upcoming SEDCO
convention. He indicated that 160 meter card checking will be available
at the convention.
The club agreed to donate $100 to Bob Alphen, K4UEE,
for the upcoming PSE operation.
The program for the evening was presented by Bill
O’Kain, K4LTA, Ruby O’Kain, K4UPS and Roy Freeman, KE4TG. They described
their dxpedition/vacation to the island of Grenada. Bill, Ruby and Roy
detailed their experiences in traveling to the island, setting up
equipment, installing antennas and mentioning some of the problems
encountered. One of those was the lack of performance of the 160 meter
antenna. John Oakberg, NK4N, participated during a portion of the
vacation/operating activities. Roy Freeman presented a slide show which
gave a detailed view of the island and the inhabitants.
The door prize (Antenna Handbook) was won by Chad
Johnson, W4CJ.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
