ETDXA Minutes
for the meeting of
May 17, 2010
The regular meeting of the East Tennessee DX Association was held
on Monday night May 17, 2010. Twenty-one members and 7 guests were in attendance.
The meeting was called to order at 6:40 p.m. by President Dave Garner, K4YRK.
Introductions were made to the group.
It was announced that ETDXA member, Lynn Lamb, W4NL, was inducted into
the CQ DX Hall of Fame during the Dayton Hamvention. Congratulations to Lynn.
David Bower, K4PZT, and George Dominick, W4UWC, reported on the Dayton Hamvention.
George, W4UWC, gave an update on the planning for SEDCO VI which is planned for
September 25, 2010 immediately after the Ten-Tec Hamfest.
Jack Creed, K4EPC, announced again the Knoxville Hamfest and Electronics Exposition.
Volunteers were requested to man the ETDXA table at the Knoxville Hamfest. This
is a free table and gives an excellent opportunity to recruit new members.
Vice-president Jack Creed, K4EPC, introduced Jim Norman, N4CFB, and
Joe Meighan, KB4REC, who gave an excellent program about the activities of RACK. RACK
is the Radio Amateur Club of Knoxville.
RACK presents the following:
Knoxville Hamfest, Field Day, VEC Testing, RIBS (Remote Internet Base Station),
HamCam (Tower mounted remote controlled camera), Weather Station, Five VHF/UHF
repeaters, Church parking, Ham picnics, Boy Scout tutoring and other
activities. Most of these activities were described during the meeting
along with a slide show to demonstrate some of the RACK projects.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
